Welcome to the Dog Leap Judo Club Website!

The club was founded in early 2010 by Coach Tom Pearson 3rd Dan who is a BJA level 2 coach. The junior members were asked for their suggestions what the club should be called and Dog Leap Judo Club was chosen from all the great names suggested. Dog Leap is the English translation of Limavady (Léim a’ Mhadaidh) which is where the club is based.

We are affiliated to the British Judo Association, which is the UK’s national governing body for judo which covers us with insurance to do judo. The coach (and any visiting coach) is fully qualified to coach which includes the latest child protection and first aid training. Coaches also have been CRB checked through the BJA.

Dog Leap Judo Club has a medal tally to be proud of with over 100 medals within it’s first year. We provide a fun and relaxed atmosphere for all members to come and enjoy doing Judo, whether its for the Martial Art, Sport, Exercise or even just the banter.

Come on down and try for yourself, your never too old to try something new. The first session is free so you have nothing to lose!

Judo is the way to the most effective use of both physical and spiritual strength. By training you in attacks and defenses it refines your body and your soul and helps you make the spiritual essence of Judo a part of your very being. In this way you are able to perfect yourself and contribute something of value to the world. This is the final goal of Judo discipline.–Jigoro Kano, Creator of Judo
